Application process

We advise that you make an appointment for a tour of our facility, so you can observe our program.  This also will give you an opportunity to talk with an administrator about our philosophy, curriculum, and school policies.


Termination

Soufriere Kid’s Development Child Care Centre reserves the right to suspend or terminate care of any child without notice, should it be deemed necessary for the overall safety and well-being of children in our care.
Non-Discrimination
SKD Child Care Centre does not discriminate. Children and staff of all races, nationalities, and religions are welcome. The Center respects cultural diversity and incorporates it into the daily curriculum


Admission/Registration/Discharge Policy

On the first day your child\ren attend Soufriere Kid’s Development Childcare Center, parents are encouraged to stay for a short period of time. As the staffs help the child with the transitions. We welcome children aged 12 month to 12 years old. We are here to serve our Nottingham community by opening our doors to residents, students and workers.


Admissions:

    • The Day Nurseries Act stipulates that prior to admission; each child must be immunized as recommended by the local Health Department.
    • Parents are required to provide up-to-date medical certificates as changes in the child’s immunization occur.
    • The Day Nurseries Act stipulates that a designated third party be named on the admission form. In the event that a parent cannot be reached or is unable to pick-up the child the third party will be notified.
    • Our admissions are on a first-come, first –serve basis with priority given to currently enrolled children and their siblings.  The Soufriere Kids Development Child Care Centre yearly contract is based on a September to August school year.  Renewals are done during April for the next school year

  • Discharge/ Withdrawal:

    • You will be required to immediately withdraw your child from care if payment is not made for a required pay period.
    • You may be required to immediately withdraw your child from care if your child display consistent unreasonable or unacceptable behaviour that could be to the detriment of other children.
    • You will be required to withdraw your child from care if your child contracts a long-term communicable medical condition that may endanger the health of other children or a disability that this daycare is not equipped to provide adequate care for.
  • Withdrawal notification must be given to the supervisor in writing one month before the child's last day in order to have your initial deposit refunded back to you.  If proper notice is not received, the parent will be required to pay for two weeks of daycare.


    Registration –

    There is a one-time non-refundable registration fee per family to secure your child's placement in care . Once the Supervisor has confirmed a space for your child/ren, a two week deposit is required along with the first month’s child care fee(s). Spaces will not be held unless the deposit fee is paid in full.

    Registration is not complete, and care will not commence until all the paper work is done!  Prior to the start date of care the following must be received by Soufriere Kid’s Development Bilingual Child Care Centre for each child:


    Registration Form

    • Immunization Record
    • Parent/Caregiver Contract
    • Non-Refundable Deposit
    • Daycare Subsidy Request Form (if applicable - parent is responsible for picking up this form at the Daycare Subsidy Office for Soufriere Kid’s Development Child Care Centre to sign.  Parent is responsible for making sure that the form is received by the Daycare Subsidy Office IMMEDIATELY UPON SIGNING - Care will not commence until we have confirmation of acceptance from the Daycare Subsidy Office).Non-Refundable Deposit
  • Call the Centre to let us know if your child is not coming in for that day. The phone number for the centre is 647- 933-5042

    For your convince the centre has a voice mail for massages if there is no answer leave a massage for the teachers

    Soufriere Kid’s Development Child Care Centre is a private and incorporated organization, and is licensed by the Ministry of Community and Social Services & Regulated by Region of Durham Health Department and adheres to the requirement of The Day Nurseries Act of Ontario, a copy of which is available upon request.
