All of our bilingual staff meet or exceed the provinces requirement for educational achievement. Every classroom is headed by a teacher with a degree in either early childhood development or education. ECE teachers are registered under the college of early Childhood Educators.
Our staffs are thoroughly screened; references are checked including police screening and annually trained in First Aid & CPR as well as undergoing a health and physical examination. Only the most qualified, thoughtful and caring staff works at SKD. Staffing levels are maintained according to the requirements of the Day Nurseries Act.
Following our careful selection process each staff member receives training and centre orientation before beginning work in the classroom. Their skills and competency are evaluated on an ongoing basis. Soufriere Kid’s Development Bilingual Child Care Centre Policies & Procedures are thoroughly reviewed and signed by each staff.
Staff reviews and evaluations are conducted semi-annually. Your feedback and comments to the supervisor or director with regards to the staff are encouraged. Occasionally student volunteers will work in the centre, under the direct supervision of qualified staff. Their presence is a great asset to the centre as well as valuable experience in their education.
As a part of our curriculum, our staff must attend professional development courses to keep a breast of current policies and procedures.
With participating in seminars, workshops and conferences, it provides each staff with a sense of self which leads to self-empowerment.
